Walking tours

Baia di Ieranto from Termini

Frequent buses can take you from Sorrento to Termini, with its fine view of Capri, and a bar/restaurant. This walk takes you to a remote bay and fine small bathing beach with the crystal clear waters of a World-Wildlife protected zone. You will have wonderful coastal views, including sight of the Faraglione islands of Capri. Allow 3hours walking time to go to the beach and return to Nerano, from where a bus will take you back to Sorrento.
With your back to the church in Termini, turn left and, after 50m/yds, at the bend, start to turn right into Via Campanella. Just under the road name take steps down, which lead onto a path, then narrow concrete road. Follow it downhill for 500m/yds to a T-junction with another narrow concrete road: turn right. The road becomes a stepped alley and descends to the road in Nerano (bar, shop).
Turn right on the road for 50m/yds, and take the path to the right (Via Ieranto). Continue ahead on this track for about 1km ascending gently to Villa Rosa. The bay down left is Marina del Cantone and above you to the right is Monte san Costanzo with its hill-top chapel. The track becomes a path and starts to descend gradually, finally descending between drystone walls to a house where the view of the Ieranto peninsula opens out. Rough concrete steps lead directly down from here to the bathing beach. The concrete wharf on the left was built for the now disused quarry.
Return the same way to Nerano.

(This walk is taken from "Landscapes of Sorrento and the Amalfi Coast" by Julian Tippett.)
